Very nice, the Micro Chip is amazing. And so is the case it is in - do you remember where you bought it? That would be perfect in my house.

yes! i love this terrarium, and the orchids thrive in there as well. it was pretty $$, I bought it at Paxton's Gate in San Francisco. I'm pretty sure u can call and order one and just have them send u it if ur willing to pay for shipping.
I am actually looking to get a bigger one of the same style customer build because I'm running out of room.

another update on my dendrobiums in bud or spike.
the first two pictures are of my dendrobium kingianum, all keikis i grew myself and potted up a little over a year ago. i only got one spike this year but was surprised i got that. thens there my dendrobium unicum that is spiking like crazy. so far i have counted 10 spikes but i know not to count my chickens before they hatch so I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that i get at least on flower.
the last pic is not a dendrobium but my Rhynchostylis gigantea that is currently in spike with buds ( hoping they don't blast, never seen these flowers in person)

How did you bud your pierardii? I have had a pierardii crossed with loddgessi for several years and no buds. I have a lot of new growth tho....
the unicum looks very cool

They need a hard winter rest with cool temps and bright light. I grow my pierardii and my unicum the same.
This winter I put mine outside starting in late October and rarely watered it (this was rather hard for me as I tend to have an over watering problem). The temps got to around high 60's day to low 60's, high 50's night. The temp would even dip down to the low 50's high 40's some nights. It got plenty of sun. Around mid January I moved it into my terrarium where it got warmer temps, never going below 60 at night and the day temps now are high 70's.
I tried an experiement as well with my pierardii's. I have two, I hung one outside and I hung one in my terrarium all winter. The one in the terrarium didn't get as much light or low temps and is suffering for it. It has way less buds : /
I think the key to reblooming dendrobium pierardii's is 1. Winter rest. No water even if u feel sorry for it. Maybe a quick water once a week if it's mounted or u live in very dry climate. 2. Cold weather. Andys and many other vendors list this as a intermediate/ warm grower but mine need cold winters! 3. More sun in winter then in summer! As much sun as possible without leaf burn.

I love it when I see those little things sticking out of the canes.
