I have a den nobile that has bloomed twice for me and the canes are about 14 inches high or more , with 2 new canes on the rise , do i leave older canes and just spike them with support or cut them back to allow more energy for the newer canes ?. what do you suggest ...thanks

You need to leave the old canes because they provide nourishment for the new growth. There is also the possibility that they may bloom again.

As Emg mentioned, leave them as they still can produce food (photosynthesize) and they act as food and water reservoirs for the rest of the plant. If they do happen to rebloom -- and it is a possibility -- it won't be as spectacular as they did the first time. There is also the chance that they may produce keikis.

Never ever cut anything unless they turn brown and dry up on their own.
