My first Dendrobium Nobile :) Male
Default My first Dendrobium Nobile :)

Hello everyone. The local orchid nursery was having there annual orchid open house and I managed to stop by and they had some lovely Dendrobium nobiles for sale but not many so they were popular. So I bought the only color they had of this one. It is Den. Line Dance 'Minuet'. I am looking forward to caring for it but nervous as I have only had phals and one paphiopedilum. Thanks for looking

Beautiful flower color I have quite a few Den. nobles but I have only just started growing them. Here is a link to how best to grow them.

hey there, I was also at the open house and one of those line dance minuets also followed me home. Some of my other orchids friends were there and told me that these nobiles are not as fussy because they are hybrids and are bred to not require as long a rest as necessary. That's the reason I picked it up, other than being very pretty. I like easy orchids!

I attended my local orchid society tonight and with beginner's luck I had a winning raffle ticket and got one of these (not in bloom).

Absolutely beautiful. Can't wait.

Folks weren't sure if it was nobile-type so now I know a bit more about the care I should give it. It is putting out new roots, so whatever rest period it might need it past.
