Exclamation Dendrobium Micro chip with very shriveled canes!

I just bought a den.micro chip, and it looks way shriveled up. The seller (on line)told me that micos need a winter rest, and shriveled canes is normal! So I took it out of the moss I'd put it in, thinking it could benefit from what looks to be much needed moisture. Then I watched a video on how these type plants need NO water from October to Valentine's day!! So I took this poor thing OUT of the moss, and put in hydroton-which when watered of course, it'll run right thru the pot. What does this micro chip need???:

I have one of these also, currently in bloom for first time with two spikes and nine flowers. Mine is potted in bark/charcoal and I do not allow it to thoroughly dry out like a cattleya between waterings. This plant does not need a winter rest.

Water it. Is it still green? How do the roots look?

OrchidWiz just says to reduce watering during winter when it is cooler and shorter days. Not to stop watering completely.

Thanks guys. The roots are light ~ whitish, and appear very dried out. I just put into a moss-leca mix, so it'll have good drainage but still get some moisture. Don't think it's going to make it, as the leaves are starting to curl .

It could still survive by sending out new growths. It is, after all, a Dendrobium.
Good luck!

Good chance your plant will make it. I have found all my Dendrobiums to be tough plants and tolerant of imperfect care. Which is great for a newb like me.

I hope your den makes it! Were you on eBay perhaps? I've seen quite a few shriveled dens and Catts on there.
