Do you live in northern or southern Cali? The plant need only a low night time temp of 40F during it's 3 months of winter rest. It can take it a lot lower. I left mine hanging on the outside of my greenhouse till the temps got 31F or less before I placed them back in the greenhouse. The hardest part of reblooming these is to not water them during their rest. All of my Noblies got their last watering about beginning/mid november. They will not get a direct watering in my conditions till late Feb/early March... This year is the 1st year that I have rebloomed any of my nobiles because it was always hard to comprehend that an orchid could take as low as freezing and no water for a full 3 months... Orchids are usually tropical, but these live in the foot hills of the himalayan mountains... Monsoons during the summer and cold winters with little to NO precipitation....

Orchidaholic, I would like to add just one thing to your cultural tips with which I strongly agree. November and December does not give us a lot of 40's where I live in Central Florida but we do get a lot of thirties and forties in January. In previous years, I could not resist the temptation to give the nobiles a little water and I got very few flowers. This year I stuck to my guns and I have tons of buds. Even my Den. Kingianum variety Bardo Rose is loaded. Very bright light (full sun) will ripen the canes and also is important. The other thing that I wanted to mention is that absolutely no fertilizer should be given after August.

Oh! That's a tip I missed somewhere. I fertilized straight through to Halloween. Then it went out to my quilting studio. The heat doesn't go on in there unless I'm working out there so it's probably in the 40's. I haven't watered it since it went out there. I have one bud showing on an old cane, but nothing so far on the newest growth. I'll leave it out there until the end of Feb. and then decide what to do. I hope I get more than one bud.

I live in southern Cali but anyone else would swear i'm in the north, it gets below 30 and it snows here!! By the end of October it gets to the 50's. I don't think i will have a problem with the not watering because i forget alot already as is
Now besides the cane with the flowers on it right now, there is a cane with all its leaves. Is it possible that blooms can come out on that cane as well if i treat it a certain way?
