Here is an update on those den nobles I bought at the end of 2014. All of them have a lot of buds. A few are starting to bloom. I grew them outside almost in direct sun with a very loosely woven screen covering the roof. They were watered every day plus whatever rain we got. I stopped watering in late Oct but they still received water by rain.
Last year I with held water and some of the buds dried up so I decided not to with hold water this year. I did greatly reduce the amount I gave them though. All the plants grew new canes some more than others. A few grew keikis so I have some new orchids. My best grower was the Country Girl. I divided it into 3 plants and each plant grew a lot of new canes. They all have a couple of canes covered in buds. I also divided the fancy yellow in to 2 plants and each plant has grown a lot of new canes. One is already putting up 6 new canes this year.
They are still outside and only are brought inside if the temps are going below 40. They have only been inside 3 days so far this winter. I am really thrilled that they did so well.
These are the first that have bloomed: Country girl, yellow paney, oriental smile and comet king.
They are all absolutely beautiful . I have the Lucky Angel 'smash' in bloom right now. First time bloom for me. Now that I know I can bloom them I want to get some more. I would like to get a yellow since my Lucky Angel is pink.
That coral one in the back row is also cool.

The coral one in the back is an oriental smile 'fantasy'. I bought that one local. The center is actually brown. The yellow paney has a really nice large flower and was the first to open this winter.
Aw c'mon people. They are hybrids originally based upon the species Dendrobium nobile, not nobles or knobles, and not capitalized. They are generically known as "nobile dendrobiums".
<Please note: this grumpy comment is being made before the first cup of coffee this morning>

Thanks for the correction Ray. I have quite a few of these and I really should be able to spell it correctly.
