This is the second spike it's had while I've had it, the plant is taller than me too haha

Great old hybrid. And yes, they certainly do become large plants at maturity--which may have been less of a consideration back when the cross was originally made. Congratulations on your flowering. I actually find this plant to be quite attractive even without blooms, especially the stripes on the pseudobulbs that it inherited from Den. pulchellum.
