Default Beautiful NOID Dendrobium

This one came from TJ a few months back.
I did not care for it very well and thought I would toss, but then I saw three spikes developing, so I kept it.

Sorry about the ugly wires all over the place.

Love these dens. Not easy to grow in So. California. Winters too cold for outside growing and I don't have indoor space form them!

These will definitely stay alive outdoor in California winter. lol

You can keep them indoor with little light during the winter if you don't have window space.
It's not the best way to go, but better than nothing if you want to grow these.

What I did once in the past was that I would keep the plant very dry, maybe once a month watering, and the plant stay green and with no wrinkles on the canes all winter long.
As soon as the weather permits, you can take them out and water and they will grow new canes and flower in the fall again.

I know what you mean.
I had some big ones or ones that were getting too big and had to dump out.

My dream greenhouse would be full of big dendrobiums and oncidiums!

This one is small, standing only about one foot, yet the flowers are about the largest I've seen on this type of hybrid.

That is a lovely noid den! I grow dens here too, they love outdoors in summer, and I give them lots of watering during our long dry months.

Some types can stay in a protected outdoors area in winter, kept drier..or to play it safe since we get valley inversion here dropping to the low 20's, just by the window, and sometimes I get winter season blooms.

Some just have to go indoors during winter, especially if they are the summer bloomers. A little hard when it is a noid..just have to observe closely and pull it in quickly so it will not suffer in the cold.

Oh I am also waiting for a noid Phal den to bloom..hope it shows as pretty as yours NYCorchidman!
