Dendrobium peguanum
I have a chance to buy this plant tomorrow and I was wondering what experience anyone has had with them. (Culture)

Hi Greg -
Hard for Louisiana to advise about Illinois conditions...but I do have this little plant. Mine grows on a grapevine chunk, and it is a pretty undemanding plant. It seems to thrive during our typically wet, hot summers (all 9 months of it), and I am keeping it bright and hard dry during the winter, which is what seems recommended.
I think the small, rounded pseudobulbs are pretty attractive, they have a kind of argyle-looking netting over them. I don't have a photo of it flowering, but will get one this summer! This is also variously called both Stachyobium peguanum and Callista peguana.
Though it grows well, it still doesn't take up much space.
Regards - Nancy

I read what it said
but the plant isn't listening. It is in bloom now.

Funny how they like to do that? Maybe that's why we like some of them so much!

The gentleman I got it from specializes
in miniatures. I could put a lot in my place, if I can manage to keep them alive.

It is an easy plant to grow. Like most dendrobiums, the medium should keep drier when the plant finishs growing till new growth occurs to prevent rotting.
This photo was taken last week in a local orchid show. The species blooms in mid-winter here.

That is humongous compared to what
I have. I guess sometimes, orchids bloom when they're damn good and ready and not until they are!

From what I can glean from what I read
temperature is not the issue with this plant, but adequate shade and humidity and proper watering (to let up when it is not in bloom). Correct me if I am wrong.
