It seems to be pretty hardy, I was about to toss mine when I noticed a ton of little shoots! So I would definitely try again.

Thanks!
No, they do not want a rest, but, like I said, can be allowed to dry out slightly in winter, but not remain dry for long. I wouldn't be surprised if others have killed theirs by trying to "rest" it ... I keep reading, and being told by others that they were told it wants a rest. Just slightly dry in winter
They do seem to be pretty tough - I had a rootless keiki (with buds on it) come off my plant in spring - because it had buds, I stuck it in a small pot with some moss. I expected it to die quickly, but it bloomed. A while after blooming, I noticed it looked pretty shriveled and dead, but then I spotted new growth from the base, as well as a couple keikis starting

Wow, very nice Sonya! This is one orchid that caught eye eye long ago, and I've always meant to buy one. But there's always another orchid higher up on the wishlist, and I never got the Den... Maybe tomorrow, at the orchid show I'm going to. I too had always heard that this was a winter resting Den, and that was one of the reasons it wasn't high on the wishlist. Now your experience with it changes that somewhat :P Hmmm... Too late to add it to my pre order from my favorite grower for the show tomorrow, but maybe he'll bring some along anyway!

Thanks, Camille
This has been pretty non-fussy for me - hope you were able to get one.

Nope, didn't get one... There was a vendor there with some really nice blooming plants, but by the time I saw them I didn't have enough cash on me (this show is cash only). It was also quite expensive, as far as Dutch orchid prices go (25€). This is the one I was drooling over.... Today I have major regrets for not getting it. I know which grower it was, so I may order online. Though there will be pretty big shippings costs, the grower is in Belgium

Absolutely gorgeous!
Mine is definitely alive (and about to bloom) after all the torture with rest it didn't need -- Hardy as well as pretty!
