Very cool, Adam. Interesting that your plant (and maybe all plants of this variety of speciosum) has wide and rounded leaves. Both my pedunculatum and curvicaule varieties have more narrow and pointed leaves (although the colors of both leaves and new growths look very much like those of your plant). Hopefully you'll see some flowers next spring. I've only looked at blooms of blackdownense on online Australian web pages. So it will be interesting to see one that's (relatively) local.
