Default Den. lichenastrum in bloom

Sue and I have been having a discussion on our lichenastrums. Here are the photos of mine. It has one little bloom on it right now, but several more buds.
It has such a lovely stench of garbage, thankfully you have to get pretty close to smell it, so Sue better keep it an arms length away!

Just out of curiosity, why would anyone grow anything that stunk like garbage? Just a question, not a criticism.

Well Ross,
I really didn't know that it had a bad scent when I bought it, just that it was a cute little plant...
Then I was told by Sue that she had one and was told that it had a bad scent, so I HAD to check it out when it bloomed...
Personally bad scents don't bother me too much, I guess that living on a horse farm has solved that dilemma for me. LOL

Despite the scent, it is too cute!

I only found out AFTER I got it that it had a "fragrance"...most of you know I'm allergic to stinky stuff

Laura, when mine blooms and stinks...it becomes YOURS!

Possibly a question for the Bulbo nuts. For what it's worth I have a few orchids with less than pleasant odours. Some I didn't know about, some I liked the flower so much I didn't care about the smell and, as someone who grows predominantly Australian orchids, some I had no better excuse than that they were natives.

I always ask about the "fragrance" of Bulbs...I'm kind of paranoid about them
I never even thought of asking what kind of "fragrance" a Den would have!!! Duh!!! Lesson learned

How can such a little beauty smell so bad? I suppose it's to attract pollinators and discourage predators.
