Dendrobium, what to do with spent flower spikes?
Default Dendrobium, what to do with spent flower spikes?

Specifically, Dend. Micro Chip.

On another thread about this precious little plant a member commented that they bloom from new and old canes. Mine is going crazy with blooms right now, but a few flowers have fallen off and all good things must come to an end. Now because it blooms off of old and new canes, is there a special way to remove the spikes once done flowering? Or do I just leave them?

Any help would be very much appreciated. This is the first Dendrobium I have kept alive! I love this little plant!

You can just cut them off. I wait until the spike is thoroughly dead. They don't effect future blooming.
I love these guys, too!

Agreed, Dendrobiums don't generally flower off old spikes again, so just cut them off.
