Spring is in full swing here in Southern California, and my Dendrobiums are starting to wake up.
First off Den. Specio-kingianum 'Casablanca'
I got this at Norman's orchid open house. Their plants are always very high in quality, though a little expensive, but totally worth it. I grow this plant as a companion with my Cymbidiums, and they can take quite a bit of cold and drought as well. It suffered a bit of leave tip burn, I will try less fertilizer this growing season.
This next one is Den. Rainbow Dance 'Akazukinchan' (Kunenai x unicom) also from Norman's orchids. I grow this like a nobile. Warm wet/dry cool cycle.
Next up is a trader joe purchase a Noid nobile hybrid. I love this plant. So easy to grow around here and it has a wonderful raspberry fragrance as well.
Last is Dendrobium Frosty Dawn"Yen".
This is an ebay purchase. I grow it intermediate. I gave it a short coolish rest between Nov. and Jan. with less water but not totally dry and temp down to 50c. It responded with a few flowers but more buds wouldn't come out. I will try a longer colder rest nest season.
Thanks for looking
Andrew
