Default Dendrobium Nora Tokunaga

Den. atroviolaceum x Den. rhodostictum

I got this as a gift from a reputable seller from Hawaii when I ordered several orchids two summers ago. This is a Latouria hybrid made by Roy (the R of H&R)…. he named this after his wife…..this has been easy to grow temperature tolerant; no fuss and has been excellent so far.
A miniature warm growing Dendrobium that grows only 8 in. tall, long lasting flowers that blooms more than once from the same cane ….Another member have grown and rebloomed this orchid plant in water culture, but I grow this in bark, lava rock, charcoal and sponge rock on the west facing window providing it with medium to bright shaded light aided by an electric humidifier with an oscillating fan. I feed it weekly weakly fertilizer of K-lite and seaweed mix. On its first year with me, I didn’t give it a rest period and it gave me flowers yet this fall I watered it only every other week and it also bloomed for me…..so I guess I should maintain a year round watering regimen on this…and if it gives me more keikis then I will try the water culture next time.

Fabulous!

My Den. Royal Wings (another latouria hybrid by Roy Tokunaga) is starting to bloom. I love the latourias!

Yours, being more petite, sounds great!

This is one of my favorites too! Mine is in bloom now and has been since late December! It's like the EverReady bunny - it just keeps going and going and going.....

I just purchased a Den. Roy Tokunga. I'm hoping that the flowers will be as pretty as yours. I love the spotted unopened buds. It is one of the few dens that look great just in bud. Oops the spots don't show because of the flash-they are a bright purple.
