Dendrobiums from Andy's Orchids
Well, I finally made the trip to Andy's, they're about 20 minutes or so away from me. I came home with 5 wonderful orchids, including some I've been wanting for quite a while. A Den. chrysotoxum, D. farmeri, D. nobile (species), and 2 non-dendrobiums, a Masdevallia ignea and a Vanda coerulea that looked really nice. I believe everything is blooming size, so we'll see how it goes. They were all recommended for my conditions growing outside here. Really nice plants, very dangerous place for your wallet.

Great choices, and I can only imagine, to have them only 20 minutes away, I would be broke:-)

They have a fantastic selection of all kinds of things not listed on their website, too. I had not remembered that I bought some plants from them in San Francisco at the Orchid show earlier this year until I looked down and saw their tags on a Sobralia and Laelia as I was placing the new orchids.

Jean, I am glad they're there! Whatever you're getting, it'll be nice. The lady helping to pick them out is VERY selective, so you'll get the nicest of nice plants, and she will not select something she'd not want herself. If you ever get to visit San Diego, treat yourself to a visit there (has to be by appointment, but they're easy to make).

I have ordered from them several times and have never been disappointed. They are always so nice on the phone and will call me to let me know exactly what is going on with my order.

Tindomul, I wouldn't be surprised if you grew Masd. ignea very well. This past Spring I saw a pot of it in full bloom (but it wasn't for sale), so I've been wanting it since. I like its full, rounded leaves and how deep green they are. They weren't expensive, I think just $15, though it's in a 2.5" pot, but that's still blooming size.

Thanks for the vote of confidence. I would really have to put some effort to do it well.

Andys orchids has a 20% off sale stick mounted orchids in all varieties. This ends 12/31/13. They also have a sale of three Masdevallia plants: Masd. picea, Masd. picea var. alba, and Masd. ignea. Just an FYI <S>
