Tindo....as Brooke advised: spray it if the canes shrivel on a bright sunny day....this is not a Catasetinae where you completely withhold water.... I spray it until damp every 10 days until it gives me buds....
Yes seaweed for me as well, never ever had it so many roots till this year when I started with seaweed. Bud, when you spray it every 10 days till damp, do you spray only canes or also medium?

Thanks guys. As you probably noticed, I am new to the world of Dendrobiums. I have up until last year ignored Dendrobiums because I didn't want to deal with winter rests and such.
I also hate dealing with fertilizers. What is k-lite/seaweed fert, how do you use it, and where do you get?

Tindomul, all is Amazon for me, the best prices and free shipping, regarding fertilizers, everyone uses different, so go with whatever you like I guess, I do not have k-lite, I use Dyna gro and than one fertilizer that was recommended t my by Kawamoto from Hawaii, it says palm food on mine, but the numbers are the thing that is important, and he did recommend 15-5-15, which is the only fertilizer he is using in his huge nursery for all the orchids. Regarding the seaweed, stinky black liquid, also from Amazon, that helps tremendously vigorous root growth, and that stuff really really works, I mean, I did see huge difference in 2 weeks, your new roots will be healthier, and much stronger than old ones, after you start to use seaweed. Also, the amount of the roots is massive! I use it as recommended once a month, 1tsp/gallon, but for some, like vandas etc. even more often:-) This one is definitely worth to buy!

Tindo,
This species will also appreciate a cold snap in temps to get it to go dormant. Its grown well in Hawaii at sea level, so a few nights of 50 degrees should do the trick; though it can take temps much colder with no problem.

Thanks. Darn, wish I had seen this post earlier. We just had about 4 nights in the 50's and tonight it will go down to freezing.
