Hey,

Here's a shot of my atroviolaceum:


Do all those bare shrivelled "sticks" have any function or I can safely snip them off ?

If they're green, they're alive and supporting the plant. These can also bloom from older, leafless canes.

You can peel (gently) the papery sheathes off of them though to tidy up the appearance; if you can remove them from the base of the pseudobulbs the additional light will occasionally activate the dormant eyes at the base...and you will get multi-directional leads...
