Dendrobium Micro (Aussie) Chip Bloom
I got this plant in August from Oak Hill gardens and it is now in Bloom. This one was on my wish list for a very long time before getting it. It took several months from the spike formation to the buds opening. It is a very small mini dendrobium!

I have a bunch of these that I got in a compot, they came from Hawaii very plump and healthy, and shortly after repotting them most of them have shriveled and I'm having a really hard time with them. I know people say these are supposed to be easy but for me not so much.
How do you take care of yours, what's it potted in and how often do you water?

I am sorry to hear yours is having a hard time. Mine is potted in Bark and perlite (came like this from oak hill) and I water once a week. It has been growing new roots also so I spritzed those every few days until they reached the medium so they wouldn't dry out. I am going to repot when it is done blooming, into lava rock, maybe with some bark and perlite. I have a phal-type den growing in lava rock and charcoal that is very happy and also needs repotted when it is done blooming. Mine also gets a lot of light. Do you have some pictures of yours?
I just noticed another spike starting on an older cane, so in a few more months I should have more blooms!

Nice!
Mine always blooms late winter, just barely starting spikes now.
Escualida - moderately bright light, don't allow media to dry completely, intermediate temps.

You really shouldn't let latourea Dendrobiums dry out too much. They need a free draining coarse mix but should get watered very frequently, especially in warm weather. In general they are cool growing plants. Most come from high altitude cloud forests in New Guinea where there is constant humidity and generally cooler temperatures, occasionally down to near freezing at night.
