Default Den. Spring Doll 'Sweetheart' HCC/ADS, its a WEED NOW!

Not sure what the name of this means but I had such trouble getting this to grow. It stayed exactly the same for a year! Then I got sick of it and put it in morning sun, it thrived! I was told by the judge I bought it from to keep it in bright light. Anyhow now its huge and thats why my hand is in the picture so you can see how big it is. I think its getting root bound but think maybe I should not repot? Look at the 2nd picture of the roots, should I make new plants out of these and how? It bloomed last Fall but only had one flower? White.

And this is the plant that stayed so tiny for over a year! It's 10 times the size it was before I gave it some sun. Looks like it needs a weed wacker!

Twist and pull the keiki and stick it in with the mother plant. I don't think you need to repot, I can see that its not trying to come out of the pot. You need to give it slight winter rest to flower. Or else it will just give you few flowers and a lot of keikis....for example: if you water this every other day in summer then water it weekly in winter and hold the fertilizer....

I did not know it needed a winter rest, this explains my "1 flower" this Spring. I water it 2 times a week, it dries out between waterings. I will cut it back, should it droop or the canes get shriveled?

Hi Denvervet, you really should NOT cut back a growing cane on*any dendro. That is where all of your flowers will come from.
And you shouldnt cut back any canes that are still green even if they are leafless. They are feeding the rest of the plant. You can cut them off when they turn brown and are very shriveled.
After you take that kikei off you should water it very sparingly as they rot easily until they get accustomed to being in media.
Good luck and have fun......Jean

Should I wait until Spring to cut the keiki's off, will they do better?

I would probably wait, but only because that will their growing season and a better chance of not rotting from over-watering. Soooo easy to do with keikis.....Jean
