Yes, the blooms are very similar to bigibbum v compactum, so I figure that must be a parent.

Since they are so similar, and I have the bigibbum, I had thought about getting rid of this one, but this one blooms so fabulously, I think it's staying

I'm in the San Jose area.

No, this one grows inside in a window- I have grown it outdoors during warm months in the past - but it seems to bloom better when it stays inside - not to mention the one year I left it outside too late into fall, and it wasn't happy ;p This one definitely prefers not getting too chilly
