Dendrobium spiking season is here!
Some of my dendrobiums are spiking early this year. Most of them are still in their final stage of maturing new canes.
It is always nice to see new leaves or spikes coming out.
Included here are Emma White, Sonia and Anching Lubag, which is making lots of little buds like it did last time. yay!!!

The ones posted on this thread are very different than your mentioned plant, which is more like kingianum or nobile in culture and habit.
They are deciduous and need winter rest.
I am mostly into the hybrids of the tropical den phal or spatulata types, and nobile hybrids.
I have bought two small species but thinking of getting rid of them.

It's somewhat surprising dendrobium spiking time here with me as well (southern hemisphere). I've got a spatulata type called Dendrobium Mickey Mouse opening up any day now and a Sonia earsakul and a berry making spikes, as well as a NOID nobile. I'm confused and I suspect they are as well, but I'm not the one to turn down flowers, so I'm just thinking 'bring it on, chids!'

Spatulata types can bloom anytime and all year long. Then again, in the tropical zone, the den phals also seem to bloom all year around. hmmm
Nobile blooming this time (also in the middle of summer there as well, right?) is rather strange though, isn't it?
but we love them all.
My nobiles all flowered earlier, but I have bought some more from a grocery store recently and they are still in bloom. nice to have them this time of the year.

One of my no IDs is spiking, although I'm waiting to see if my large Spectabile will spike, as it just finished growing two new large growths.
