Default den. trimming

My Dens are driving me nuts. They have branched into two ft. thuick stocks with leaves at the very top. They bloom beautifully but are so hard to handle or even to keep balanced in a pot. With the canes so bare they aren't very pretty except for the flowers as pretty as ever. What does one do with these????? If you prune will they sprout kekei or something. These bare canes.... can you remove them as long as you have a good size plant left.

You can apparently lay most dendrobium canes down flat on a growing surface and they'll then sprout/"keiki" from the nodes. This might help you deal with some of the unwieldiness, but in due course, they'll be 2' monsters again.

I have a Dendrobium moschatum that grows ~3' long canes that keep leaves for a year and then drops them and does little else. This is the last year it gets to do anything useful (like flower) before it gets rehomed/binned, because it's far too big for my balcony area.
