Default Dendrobium Spring Dream 'Apollon' TJ

I got this one from TJ this week.
It still has lots of buds to open.
Three canes with no new growths yet.
One mature cane loaded with flowers, the next one is about 8in tall and two "spikes", one on top and one toward the base. It looks like there were spikes on every node in between but they were forced to taken off.
The third cane is barely one inch tall, very short.
White little flowers with light green/yellow throat.

I also got a similar hybrid from TJ last week.
Dendrobium Spring Dream 'Kumiko'.
Flowers are slightly larger but the shape to me is not as good. loose, should I say?
Flowers are touched with light pink.
This plant is growing three new growths and it looks like it is going to sprout some more.

Both plants are very fragrant!

HI NYCorchidman
Does this Den sit at this location always?
What is the temp range of this location?

Cos I read that this and the Nobile type of Dendrobiums need cool temp to spike.
We don't get dendrobiums that flower at the cane here at the tropics cos we don't have cool temp.

It looks so pretty. And the plant looks very healthy as well.

I just bought this at a supermarket, however, I do have other nobile hybrids that I have kept for years.

You are right, these plants need cool nights (58F or lower) of about one month minimum to bloom well.

I used to move my nobile hybrids to a friends cool sunroom for the winter and they bloomed like crazy.
I no longer have that option so I got rid of most of my nobiles.

I grow nobile hybrid in full sun all day. so it gets quite hot during the day (which they like during the growing season). In the fall and winter, my apartment stays quite warm as I have very large window getting sun all day. Nights can get a little cool but no lower than about 65.
With this warm winter night, my nobile still bloomed but very poorly compared to their full potential.

I also have this Den nobile. The canes can get very tall. The flowers have pink tips when they open but they fade with time and they become white. Also mine is not very fragrant. I wonder if the growing conditions affect fragrance.

Here are 2 pictures of my plant when it bloomed a couple of months ago, you can see the change of the flowers' colour.

Yours had nice flowering!

Mine starts to emit fragrance early (right now it is 5 in the morning and I can smell it quite strong) and it stops around early afternoon.

I think the cooler temperature brings out the best fragrance.
I bought these two just recently and it is very very hot in NYC at the moment. Some days they do not smell that strong at all but when I run AC a lot, the fragrance always return stronger!
