Oh, I've bought from eBay, local vendors and shows (though it's always good to find new vendors for these hard to find plants)- just figured I'd warn him if it was the same vendor (think it was Obsession).

NYOrchidman, which is the vendor if you don't mind me asking? There is a webpage for a vendor with antelopes near me, but when I tried contacting them, the phone number is disconnected and the emails bounce.
It is Bailey Orchids in FL.

I can't buy anymore antelope type dens: they are so difficult under my conditions. Essentially I had to duplicate Florida year round, not so easy for LA.
I also saw the pics from your other post, your den plant so gorgeous
It is faint. I have to get my nose right up to the flowers to sense it.

I think ones with more canaliculatum influence tend to have stronger fragrance while others like den phal are faintly scented. still a bonus, better than nothing, right?

Antelope types are supposed to a year round bloomer, that is if the conditions are met. Yes, they are hot growers. I too have winter that is cooler than other seasons and sun light hours are shorter, so these plants tend to "rest" until spring comes. This past winter was quite mild and that might be why for my Warawan blooming again, almost right after the previous blooming is finished.

Are you giving your plants enough light?
As long as you are wintering them indoor where you don't feel "too cool", they should be perfectly fine.
As is the common case with other orchids, it is often the lack of light that keeps orchids from flowering well.

These plants take almost full sun.

I thing last year it wasn't getting enough light. Last fall I moved it to partial sun and it got burnt.
Now I grow in a mini greenhouse with a heater for nights.
Days here in the winter is quite mild ave 60s but nights can drop down to the 40s

Why don't you take them indoor for winter if you can? I don't think indoor temperature will fall in the 40s unless you sleep with your doors and window wide open. lol

I think below 60, these dendrobiums quickly drop leaves or yellow. further down, well, they will go to the other side. lol

Not enough light indoors. With a little radiator night temps hovers around upper 60s in the little greenhouse.

During the winter, light doesn't matter much.

Two winters ago, I kept my Warawan in the middle of the room where the sun doesn't really reach at all. quite shady.
and I watered it probably once a month.

Come spring, I put it back out by the window and it started to grow just fine.

This past winter, I kept it by the window the whole time. but the winter was really mild too. maybe the light available the whole winter might have something to do with this second blooming.
Whatever the cause, I'm happy!
