A puzzle - Den flower in growing cane

Hi eveyone, my Dendrobium Spring Dream 'Apollon' has presented me with a bit of a puzzle. There is a flower on a new cane. The two new canes started growing about march time and about 3 weeks ago, I noticed a white bump on one which, over the next week or so, developed into a flower - has anyone else had this? (I mean, I'm not complaining, but I've only ever had flowers come on old canes before)

Just go along with it I'd say I have a D. Nobile that started producing keikis on the new cane, and have 4-5 flowers coming out of the base of those keikis...

I hope you have someone who can give you some scientific explanation for whatever is happening to your plant

Thanks folks. It'll be interesting to see if any more flowers come up or whether it's just this one!
