Den Lori's Star
This is the first time I have bloomed a Formosae type Dendrobium. I love these but they can be difficult.

Thanks! I bought 8 different Formosae types. I figure I should be able to bloom a few and have a few backups just in case I kill one.

I'm not really sure but apparently I have a hard time with them. It may be that my humidity is not foggy enough in the early morning. I think these types tend to do better with that.
Or it may be that I tried the most difficult one first and several times before I gave up and went for the others. Den tobaense is finicky. I have now killed 5. I will not buy another until I master growing some of the other Formosae species.

Love it! One of my favorite Den. types. Who could resist those flowers?

Den. Lori's Star is not a species, it is a hybrid, and shouldn't be too sensitive to humidity.
I thought it would be good enough with general nobile care.
I hear the flowers last for very very long time.
I recently got a ceologyne hybrid whoes flowers look similar to these. interesting.

I know that it's not a species. I was referring to my other group of Formosae species that I am trying to grow. I tried tobaense first and killed 5. I have draconis, lowii, schuetzei, and a couple of others that I am trying to grow.

I love these, really nice.
I've never tried growing one though I've sometimes considered it when I've seen them for sale at shows.

Hi Rosie,
You should. The blooms last a long time.
