Pretty! how long do the blooms last?
One other thing… Does it need cooler temperatures during the winter rest period? If it does, I can have it shipped to France instead and ask my mother to take it to our countryhouse. There are huge south facing windows where in the room where I want to put it, so it would get lots of light and the temperature is around 48-56F in the winter. But it would be pretty much left to its own devices since in the winter my mom goes to the countryhouse about once a month. How about water?? Do you water at all during the rest period?
Sorry for all the questions, but I love to know everything about the plant I grow/will grow!

I have two plants that have bloomed once in about 5 years......Not a good track record. I think some plants are just easier to bloom than others and if you are lucky, the one you get is a good bloomer.
Don't worry about the questions, that's what the forum is for. I've been checking out my orchid notes for you and was surprised to see that I got my aggregatum in 1988! The spikes usually start appearing April to June here and develop fairly quickly. They come straight out of the sides of the bulbs, which looks rather peculiar. Flowers last about six weeks. I leave my plant in the same room all year except to show it off , and I'm sure the 56 temp. would be fine but I don't know about 48 if it is constant. It doesn't need any water at all during the rest period. I'll start misting again about Feb., working up to weekly thorough watering.

I had been thinking of putting it in the 'basement' since it's the brightest and coolest spot in the house. But I could always put it in the main part of the house, where it's more like a constant 55F. Since no one really goes there often in the winter we heat it a minimum.
Thanks for all the info! I learned more things in a day than in a week of googling!

I have a nice plant growing on a slab of wood and I have had it for many years. It blooms reliably in the spring with cascading sprays of bright yellow. The only negative I could give about the plant is that the flowers are here today and gone tomorrow. They only last about ten days.

It was one of my first species Dends. I don't do anything special to it , just a little less water in the winter , medium light . Here is a picture of it .Won't know unless you get one Gin
