growth issues dendrobium bracteosum

I had a tannii (which is or isn't bracteosum depending on whom you ask); I imagine your leaves are signifying a lack of water; mine lost all its roots and died as I was still "learning" how to properly water orchids - mine was in CHC when most of my other plants were in bark, so I expect it got too much water.

I'd very much like another one some day.

The issue with your plant's leaf could be 2 things:

1. Underwatering.

2. Rotating the plant too much.

The remedy for rotating the plant too much is simple - know which direction the orchid is growing towards and keep it oriented that way. Technically, there is a back end and a front end, keep the front end towards the light source.

One way to find out which direction the orchid has been pointing towards the longest, is to find where the largest growth is. Face the largest growth towards the light.

Another way to find out is to look at where the orchid is leaning towards. Wherever the orchid is leaning forward, that is the front end.

Yet another way is to look at where the leaves are pointing downwards. If the leaves are pointing downwards in one direction, that is where the front end is.

Plants will usually find the light source and grow towards it.

Whichever reason it is that's causing the leaves to buckle, it's not terribly serious, as you've probably already noticed.

I have an Oncidium that has a few curled and kinked newer leaves and I was told that it's due to lack of water. It makes sense in my case because I have let it get pretty dry a few times.

I'm using a little stretch plant tie to help the newest cane grow more vertically than the last one. I'll post more pictures as the flowers open.

My dendrobium bracteosum looks the same as yours with the flowers, I recently purchased mine a month or so ago and its just starting to flower now. Does yours have a specific name to it. Mine only said on the label dendrobium bracteosum type. I would love to know what the actual name is so I can place it directly on the tag. Here is a picture of mine.

I am unfamiliar with this cultivar, so happy to see others are not. My only thought might be, are you using artificial light enhancements or depending on a natural, single source? If the latter, given I do have only single light sources, when I see new bulbs emerging, I always turn the plants in question to where the new bulbs are closest to the windows.

I have a bracteosum that has been in bloom since November 2013 and it shows exactly the same growth pattern. Mine is in a West-facing window and also receives strong southern light. The new pbulbs are growing out sideways. This must be typical for those of us that cannot provide overhead light.....
