Hi, Pam!
You are able to bloom your nobile (which I believe is also Yamamoto Dendrobium), then you can grow this as well.
I understand some varieties have slightly different care, but most of these nobile hybrids basically take the same care.
Nobiles are among the easiest plants I've ever grown. and the reward is just stunning!
I no longer have cool room so now I grow mine by south window, which only gets slightly cool during the winter. hence the much poorer bloom this time.
I wanted to stick it to the fridge but it is just so tall.
Oriental Smile Fantasy can get quite tall and mine is really tall!
I just got a much shorter one at a show last week. short enough to stick in a fridge next season.
You should be able to find this variety in UK or Germany as this is one of the most popular of Yamamoto along with a few others like Love Memory, Fancy Angel, Yellow Song, Red Emperor.
If you visit yamamoto website, they show world distributor of their plants.
Also, amazing picture gallery with some explanation behind each variety they carry.
Mine is, according to their website, a late bloomer and should not be forced. This could be another reason that mine is performing so poorly. not cool enough and not long enough (this should get the entire winter cooling and allowed to bloom when spring comes for best results)
some variety show very high sensitivity for cooling, like Fancy Angel that can bloom a few times in cooler climate like Pacific Northwest of US or part of UK.
