I got a nice little pot of this species with an order I received today and would like to do something a little interesting with it. Given how easily it puts out roots mounting it seems like the simplest option but I'm thinking rather than on a standard mount that maybe on a piece of lava rock sitting in a terracotta dish with some interesting moss specimens growing around it might be cute. Any other suggestions?

I'm definitely following this thread.

Got one loddigesii and one 'Yellow Goddess' (looks very similar when I compare the plants and also to some extent the flowers). They are both mounted, and doing...okish? I can't shake the feeling that they could just opt and die on me any day, even though they're growing roots and have green bulbs, I still feel that they are terribly fragile, somehow.

Love them though, and I'm curious as to what the other members suggest.

I've got mine mounted, just recieved it that way from the vendor. I just poped it into my orchidarium and hoping for some moss growth on the mount.
I really like your idea though.

I've got two loddigesii I've had for two years that finally bloomed (only 3 buds) this winter. I mounted them on deeply pocked driftwood with sphagnum packed into the crevasses to hold moisture.. AZ desert doesn't have much humidity here.. they spend spring and fall outside in a semi-shaded nook with misters in the afternoon. Lava rock could work!
