Default Den. harveyanum is blooming

I got this plant last spring from a member who had divided his and had it for sale on the society sale table. It sat and did nothing for months and then finally got a new growth in mid summer. It is smaller than the older ones, so not sure what's up. I think I was keeping it too cool earlier this winter as the new growth dropped its leaves So I moved it and sort of gave it some neglect. I didn't realize it had a spike on the previous growth until it was completely grown lengthwise and had tiny buds! They all just opened yesterday and are so darn cute They are lightly scented as well!

How cute!! I remember someone on OB nicknaming this species Hairy Harry . I got one in the fall, and 2 spikes starting growing not long ago. I see that they still have a ways to go before blooming! Seeing your pics, I really can't wait!!

The grower I got mine from said that this Den doesn't need a strong winter rest. He said it needs slightly cooler temperatures, and to let it get rather dry between waterings, but not withhold water all winter like true winter resting Dens. So as you found, it needs to be somewhat neglected over the winter!

Thanks everyone! It is a cutie and I am happy with my first chance at seeing it in bloom. I like the comment on baby yellow chicks Aki James!

Camille, After I moved it I think it got the kind of winter rest you describe so it must work.

Thanks gardengirl13 and Ron. they are still looking and smelling nice. Silly me I wasn't thinking and called it Henryanum rather than Harveyanum in the title and can't correct that. So it is a bit misleading.
