I got this one recently, leafy like yours right now and looks like it would not mind if I continue fertilizing.
I would be interested in seeing what people advise too.

You need to Abuse it. Stop watering, let all the leaves fall off. Flower buds will show by Feb or so. Then start watering again. If the canes shrivel too much give it a mist.

Yep, stop watering it and let it see some cold temps (but dry!) if possible.

That's a beautiful plant you have, Gloria. I will be pleased to see some pictures of it later if you're able to bloom it. Good luck.

Hi Norma. You have a very nicely grown Den. superbum. This specie is very popular in Hawaii. We call them honohono. In Hawaii, the peak blooming period is in March-April. Generally, the leaves start turning yellow in January and start falling off in February. I fertilize all year round although many growers will reduce their fertilizing Oct-Jan. Most growers in Hawaii water the honohonos heavily all year round. We don't dry out our plants.
I made a slide show on honohonos a few years ago that you might find interesting. You can find the slide show at this link: Honohono No Ka Oi - Photodex. When you double click on the slide show title page, the host will prompt you to download the photodex player. Download the player and click on the title page again. The slide show is 11 minutes long and goes through the life cycle of honohono or Den. superbum.

I forgot to mention that the slide show can only be viewed on a Windows based computer. It will not work on an Apple. Was anyone able to view the show?
