I thought I had a dendrobium cane on sphagnum, but it turned out to be an Ansellia africana. It's doing great though. The roots it's sending out are very encouraging.
Next to it are two...eh...dendrobium (?) canes (obviously, with me you never quite know. Don't put any emphasis on my identification skills).. They've been dozing away there for something like 4-6 months now, and show no sign of life at all. But at least they don't rot. That's something, right?
My attempt at this also ended in mould. I think if the plant wants to grow this will help but sometimes they just aren't going to grow.
Great that these are growing :-) and interesting that you used Lecca in that way, I tried some of mine in the same way so it's good to know the theory works.
