I'm trying something similar with lecca, but I think mine might be developing mold when I looked over the weekend, so not such luck as you. Hope yours continue to do well!

I'm afraid not. I put them in full sun with the lid on and forgot about them. When I remembered they were "boiled". I still have them, but they're soft and the keikis that had started to grow are brown. I think I killed them. I'll continue trying with other old canes.

You all have inspired me. I had an cane of Den Burana Sundae (purple & green flowers) that started to rot from the bottom. It has about 4 Keikei's started on it. So now they are lying on top of lecca covered loosely with clear plastic wrap. I'm hoping for the best. Any words of advice? I've got nothing to lose and maybe I'll learn a new technique

Don't forget to take off the covering every now and then to provide ventilation and avoid fungi and rot.

When I tried to do the same, the canes got moldy, and they weren't even touching the sphag. I never had success with this method. Good luck to you!

My cane is doing OK and it has been several weeks now, though it doesn't appear to be growing very fast. Maybe after I get my heating mats in next week, it will be more productive. I'm keeping my fingers crossed
