Dendrobium Phalaenopsis spiking
Just back from two weeks holiday to find this. It all happened in these two weeks I've been away.
The first three pictures are from the same plant and the last one is another.
Both are growing new canes (at last), and spikes. At least, I think they're spikes (the last picture is a spike for sure). The other ones I'm not too sure if they are spikes or keikis, but I don't know if Dendrobiums Phalaenopsis produce keikis or not. I know the Nobile and Kingianum types do (mine have tons of keikis) but I don't know about the phalaenopsis type.

The second picture above wasn't very clear, so I just took another one. Spike or not, what do you guys think?

these do keiki, but I do believe this one is a spike! It is the time of year for them to spike (or for mine anyway, tho I do have at least one keiki that started along with the spikes)

Cool, I was thinking spike as I looked at the first pics. As Sonya said these do keiki as I have one doing it just now, but they look slightly different, difficult to describe I might have a pic at home I'll try and dig out.

As Rosie said they do look slightly different.
Attached is a photo of a young keiki starting and one of a small spike.

Thanks Mike, I thought I had one with the keiki even younger than that (and no sign of leaves) but couldn't find it over our long weekend and hadn't managed to get back here since.
I did have one that looked like a keiki, then turned into a spike, but a spike with roots, and it's now growing a second cane. So it was a keiki but it spiked before it actually grew any leaves. I've had that happen a lot on a Den kinginanum but not on a Den Phal (until this time).
