Oh, on the second thought, I could maybe try and 'train' the growing spike to point upward as much as I can.
The second spike is already set in horizontal direction, but maybe I could try on these next ones.

Unfortunately, all three spike bumps on the old cane somehow blasted.
I don't know if it's the sudden night temperature drop we've been getting lately.

The growing spike on the new cane is developing fine though.

Well, so much for the excitement and anticipation about multiple spikes.
