These are very easy though!
Do you grow them outside? maybe you should try them indoor, especially in the winter time. Even LA winter is too cold for them.
Other than that, LA is warm and sunny enough for them I believe.

buds open!
five of eleven buds have opened. The direction of the flowers are very uniform this time.
The first picture shows the other white one with its growing spike. I see about 10 buds. Last time, it had about 15 or so. It's not bad I guess.

Thank you! I'm glad I kept this plant.
Earlier in the spring when it was starting a new cane, all the new leaves had this strange white/yellow streaks, which made me think it's virused. Then it disappeared. Weird!
Maybe it is virused. I don't know for sure, but I just kept it and the flowers are looking great now.

Great news! I have finally found a name for my white dendrobiums. They are Emma White.
I was buying some plants at the same store a few days ago where I bought these white dendrobiums last year.
I asked them if they knew the name of white dendrobiums they sell, and the guy told me Emma White is the only white dendrobium they sell.
They had a bunch of white dendrobiums while I was visiting. I checked some and a few of them actually had white plastic tag saying Emma White.
The funny thing is two of my white dendrobiums from that same store are slightly different in both flower shape and the plant shape. Maybe it's just clonal difference?
My other white dendrobium is going to bloom very soon and will post pictures. It has 11 buds on the spike, just like this one that's already in bloom now.
What a coincidence!

Easy is relative I don't have a sunny window indoors! That's the problem. Have a bright window where all my phals go in the winter. I will try a heater in my mini plastic green house this winter and see what happens. In my old house I had a skylight in my living room and all my den. phals went there. They flowered reliably. I have two phal types now. Both putting out new canes. I am keeping my fingers crossed!

These plants need constant heat and very bright light to grow all year around, but most of them survive winter just fine as long as they are kept on the dry side and the temperature is not very cool.
I had them right by the window in the winter where it gets cool (I would say 72 at best during the day and 65 or lower at night). I hardly watered them as they were not in the growth phase anyways.
Then in the early spring while the weather was still cool but getting warmer, they all started new growths.
They are now growing nearly full sun by the window. Growing really well, except one particular hybrid (not white den) is getting a few burn spots on the leaves, so I guess that one is a light sensitive one.
They need bright light to flower well. They will grow well under pretty much any condition though except for really cool weather, which will kill them.

All the flowers have been open for a few weeks now. They are slightly fragrant.
The spike from this year's cane is now showing about 8 buds on it. The whole cane is rather weak for some reason.
The older cane is a powerhouse. It had three spikes last season.
It attempted to grow two spikes earlier this year, but for some reason, only one developed and the other one stayed as little bump on the cane.
There are two other new 'bumps' on the old cane. I really hope these bumps will turn into spikes.
Oh, by the way, while peaking in between top leaves, which I never really look at usually, I found a new spike that past the bump stage. It is about half an inch. no picture of that yet because of the position is in.
So that's total of 8 spikes if all of them grew.
Maybe this one escaped from a cut flower farm.

Beautiful! I love white flowers and your dendrobiums obviously appreciate the care you take of them!

Yeah, I love these white blooms! They are slightly scented as well.
The problem now is that it doesn't have enough space for spikes to grow.
The first spike was growing toward the window where the light comes from. By the time the spike was long enough to just touch the window and buds were well formed, I made 180 degree turn and now I get to enjoy the flowers.
As you can see in the first pic above, the second spike is growing toward the window now.
From what I can see, it is not going to have as many flowers as the older one, but it will get much longer. I cannot really turn the pot again because doing so will cause the older spike (with fully open flowers) hit the window or other plant. Leaving it as is will cause the growing spike to hit the window and get damaged or bent severely.
What's worse is that this same cane is also starting three addtional spikes.
OMG, I have no idea what to do!
Moving it away from the window will reduce the light it receives and will affect the buds formation adversely.
Should I cut the older spike and enjoy it as cut flower to save all other spikes that are developing?
Happy worry...
