My victoria-reginae is losing leaves too. The leaves start spotting, before turning purple/yellow, and then it drops. It's probably not the same problem, but I have no idea what's going on with it. I do know that I need to keep it more moist though.
For what it's worth, according to my cultural notes (for Baguiao, Philippines):
Wet season: May-Oct, peaks at a ridiculous 45 inches of rain in 27 wet days in Aug.
Dry season: Dec-Mar, 1-2 inches of rain, 2-5 wet days
Humidity: 83 in winter to 93 in summer
Temperature: 60-78 all year round, average around 70 for most of the year
Day Length: 12-14 hours
Wind speed: 4 m/s in May, 8.8 m/s in Dec -- this is relatively high, I'm guessing despite the high humidity all year round, it also needs good air movement
Insolation (KwH/m^2/day): 3.4 in Dec to 5.7 in April. Translation: Similar sun as Florida but with slightly brighter winters and less bright summers. Note that the highest insolation and clearness correspond at Mar-May (more sun at those months). Wet season sun tapers off, but Aug has the least clear days. Late fall-winter has average clearness, but least insolation.
