hi. i am growing many dens and antelope type dens and would like to see how other people care for them: potting medium, mounted or potted, water, etc...
if you could post pictures or just type i would greatly appreciate it!
dendro king, you can see some of my collection of antelopes in a couple posts up. I grow mine in a mix of hydroton, charcoal, tree fern fibers, and spongerock. I just got a few new ones that are just in hydroton and charcoal. Since it such a coarse mix that drains great I water every 2-3 days. I also have then potted in clay pots. It wicks any extra moisture left over and does great for my growing conditions. Hope this helps. Happy growing!
I'm near Jaxorchidman, and have similar conditions. I grow outside 24/7 only bringing them up in severe wind or when it's cold. I let nature dictate my seasons and watering, drying them off when dry season hits here and watering more when rainy season is fixing to start. I also grow them in almost full sun. I use strictly clay pots for my dends, less moisture and heat retention. I prefer inroganic mixes like lava/LECA etc, but will use coarse mixes with lots of charcoal. (the mix in the post above sounds real good to me)
My collection is antelopes and intermediates.
When I get where i plan on staying for good, I want to try mounting some on stumps/rocks in an exposed area of yard.
