Dendrobium violaceum
A larger Oxyglossum Dendrobium from New Guinea with very long-lasting flowers - these have been open since October.

Thanks, Bud and Sonya, and yes, the flowers have been on it since October - thgis is fairly typical of the Oxyglossum Dendrobiums. Makes one wonder, doesn't it, Bud, whether pollinators are so few that the flowers need to be open that long.

That is a gorgeous orchid! I'm amazed that the flowers have been open for such a long time. I like the combination of violet and bright orange.

Thanks, Sydney. This whole group of Dendrobiums (Oxyglossums) are from New Guinea and have long-lasting flowers - six to eight months often.
