@MJSK, you can always bring them inside for the winter. They are mostly warm growers. Mine get down to 50-60 degrees in my GH during the winter but they also get up to 90-100 in the summer. More water the hotter it is and less during the winter. You could always try one and see how it does. Go with an inexpensive plant that way if you it doesn't do well you're not out too much $$.

There have been a couple times I've been caught with my pants down and it dropped to 50 or a little less with the dends left out. I've lost a few (my Samurai was one, Sylvia Yuen another), but most survived though were not happy about it, whereas the catts couldn't care less. Maybe keep an eye out for an antelope mixed in with the big box store phal types- they happen. That way you can try one out cheaply.
I hope some of the greenhouses and vendors see this thread and start stocking these plants here in the US- see there is s demand!

I tracked down a Dendrobium anntenatum hybrid - Den. Ohh's Blue for $15 to give it a try. I do keep my orchids inside all year, though I am experimenting with a Den. kingianum and an Epidendrum parkinsonianum outside for the summer. They will come in when I move my lemon and olive tree back inside my 'sunroom' greenhouse in the fall.

Went to a local societies auction last weekend, and they had 1 antelope- Easter Bunny (one is in a prior post). Bid but didn't win, as it was by far the highest selling plant at the auction, $95!! It was big, but not that big, I've seen more grown out.
Might be a good idea to get some baby antelopes to sell out and grow, if people want them that bad...

These are gorgeous but not available here. I love them but I have never seen one. If they can bloom year round they must be wonderful to have.

Joshua, here are a few that I have. I would have more but find them to be difficult to obtain. I looked for the species canaliculatum (sp), a miniature and a miniature hybrid called blue twinkle that blooms constantly. After five years I am still looking.

Wow! These are beautiful! I have never seen them for sale here. It's been years since I've seen even phal dendrobiums. The only den I've seen are nobile hybrids.

Leisurely, I'm with you- 'would love to have more but find them difficult to obtain'. I found canaliculatum at Orchid Trail and Clown Alley Orchids; I have Blue Twinkle myself and saw it at Lowes a few months back so maybe they'll get it again. I'm near enough to you that I'll let you know if I see it at Lowes again, or when mine is ready to divide or has a keiki you can have one.
You might look for Pixie Princess, a canaliculatum hybrid that used to be common. I have a hybrid (x Autumn Lace) that isn't ready to divide/no viable keikis ATM, 1st piece is spoken for but when it's ready I can divide further. I do have a Blue twinkle intermediate hybrid (x Jaq-Hawaii) that I could divide.

Pipsxlch, thanks for the tip. I found two possibly nice ones at The Orchid Trail. One is Den. antennatum x Den. carronii ( a minnie) and Den. Pixie Princess x Den. carronii that will be pot luck because several color forms were used in the hybridizing. They are flowering size so I will post pics when they bloom; hopefully this fall.
