Just a little update on this plant. The buds are now all bloomed out. The older flowers are still looking fresh. I expect the flowers to last a month or more. The natural spread of the flowers are 3-1/4 inches horizontally. There are eleven flowers on one inflorescence. This is a first bloom of the plant. Hopefully, the next time around there will be several sprays of flowers.
Just as an update, I exhibited the plant at the Aiea Orchid Show this past weekend (April 8-10, 2012). The plant was given an Award of Merit by the Panel of Honolulu Orchid Society Judges. The plant was also given a trophy for the Best Hawaiian Bred Plant in the Show. The flowers are still fresh and held up well during the Show. I retook a picture of the plant this evening. This is how the plant looks today.
Beautiful flower ! I now know what to expect from my Den. Roy Tokunaga...and I also have Den. Nora Tokunaga which is a different variation and color...
