Dendrobiums blooming, spiking, and growing

All of my dendrobiums are responding well to high light window setup by sending up new shoot, some are sending up spikes, some are still in bloom.

It is fun to see how some hybrids start out very small, then boom! while others start out thick and fat, and keep on getting tall and thick. Very interesting plants.

Some of my dens got slightly burned, either small black spots or overall purplish cast on leaves and canes, so I moved thosed away. Some of them seem to be perfectly fine under high light.
Two of my white dens are showing white/yellow streaks on new growths. hmmm....wouldn't be too sad to them go if it is virus as whites are easy to find. I'm just going to let it grow and see how it will progress.

Those are beautiful...just curious, what is that white netting in front of the plants and where can I buy some? I need something to diffuse the bright light in a south window to keep some of my orchids from burning...

Eddie- Believe it or not, the white netting is my sheer curtain. The regular sheer curtain you see at most curtain shops tend to block way too much light for my dendrobiums, so these are perfect for me.

I bought these at IKEA. You could check their website. It was like $10 and I only used half package. great stuff!!!

The purple striping is not a virus on the cane. It just means that one of the parents back there had purple striping canes.

Check out Den puchellum canes. They have lots of purple striping. I have one and lots of stripes. Looks very healthy.

I mentioned white/yellow streaks on leaves as a potential sign of virus, not purple stripes.
Purple stripes are natural for some hybrids, especially when exposed to high light, it becomes more intense.

Wow, there's so much color at your place! Dens obviously do very well for you. The fourth one (peach-orange) looks so much like Catt blooms!

I think I have all the color spectrum now, well, I dumped the green Jade last fall. it just looked 'suspicious' lol

The fourth one is nobile hybrid, Oriental Smile Fantasy "AD/AOS" my favorite! It does look like cattleya flower in a way. It bloomed like they should forming a dense cluster along the cane, which is all gone now, but then some flowered on top just last week and there are some toward the bottom of the cane that bloomed last season. So it looks kinda funny with 5 flowers on top and 5 flower on the bottom, but they smell and look great! The individual flower size is much larger reaching 3.7 across. don't know what caused this change. last year, it was at least one inch smaller, which is quite the difference. all the ones I see at stores ( I see lots of Oriental Smile this year, became a trend or something) have smaller flowers.

InspirChid1712- I would love to have them outside for summer, but no space for that. They would go crazy. multiple canes and more flowers!!!
My favorite orchids are dendrobiums. They grow so well and flowers are beautiful and long lasting. some smell quite nice. what more can I ask?

I was tempted by Oriental Smile Fantasy, a dutch grower recently added it to their catalogue. I don't think it's a trend, vendors just sell whatever the asian suppliers happen to be flooding the market with.
