I may have gone insane
Hello all,
I may have gone insane. After spending the last 6 years totally ignoring Dendrobiums and not wanting to know anything about them, I have just spent over $100 on new Dends.
It all started yesterday when someone posted some nice looking Dends and before I knew it I needed to have some in my collection.
Basically what I am looking for are miniature Dends with little or no winter rest requirments. My plan is to grow them in my terrariums.
I just bought Dend. Illusion from Mountain Orchids (Thanks Ron for suggesting the vendor, though they did not have the one I was looking for).
On e-bay I bought D. bracteosum and bullenianum. It was a three for the price of one from Incredible Orchids and ended up with an D. anosmum as well. Maybe I will trade this one later.
Also I got from Orchids by Hausermann
Dendrobium laevifolium ('Red' x var. aureum)
and
Dendrobium unicum (Vietnam Form).
I really hope I get to do well by them. Any advice or comments welcome. Am in over my head????

I just took delivery of a den peguanum and a den trantuanii. Both miniatures, and both require only a reduction in water in winter rather than a rest.
Dendrobium is by far and away my favourite genus! There is just so much variety there to choose from.

you have not gone truly insane until you start acting like me and buying the *same* species multiple times because you a) forgot and/or b) got swept up in the moment

I remember asking myself the same question when I ordered all the angraecums. Good luck!

Haha welcome to the club (the insane club)
I was intimidated by Dens for some time, but then got a few different kinds, and I pretty much just love them - some of my favorite orchids now! Don't have any of the ones you got, tho I recognize some names of ones I have drooled over pix posted here. I still don't have many Dens by comparison to some other alliances, but I am definitely more interested in them now. I love that there are so many small ones! (space issues here)
Sounds like a great haul - can't wait to see pix!
