Just think of it as the next phase of your orchid addiction! Nice choices btw. Several of those are on my wishlist. Speaking of which, if you think you're insane you should see my ordering plans for this year.

Nice acquisitions! Dens are great, so much variety to choose from. Check out Dendrobium aberrans, small and cute with no rest requirement. I also second Natalie's recommendation of trantuanii, it's unusual-looking and has been an easy grower for me. D. lawesii is a very colorful species that should do well in a terrarium.

You probably already know this, but bullenianum gets fairly large and anosmum potentially gets VERY large so they may not be excellent terrarium candidates...

Actually until early today I thought that D. bullenianum was small, but now I know its not as small as I would like. Maybe I can still fit it in my large terrarium.
I was looking into D. abberrans, thanks. I really wasn't sure how big it was.
D. lawesii looks absolutely stunning, but it grows rather large as well. Its on my list if I ever get the space. hehe, maybe I will make the space by evicting some non-orchids from my tallest terrarium.
I'll keep D. trantuanii in mind too. Does that require a winter rest?
All in all, it seems that Dendrobiums are more promising than Plueros for terrarium culture.

Congrats on your purchases! I have about 15 Den species so I'm right with you on the Den addiction. I have trantuanii and it is small. I am so hoping the nub at the top is a bloom spike. The bloom is soooo attractive.

You might also try these:

carrii - I don't have it but it looks awesome to me.
sulcatum - I don't have it....yet. It does have a small winter rest.
mohlianum - I don't have it....yet.
laevifolium - I don't have it...yet.
moniliforme - I have several variegated varieties.
senile - I don't have it..it does require distinct winter rest.
unicum - awesome color!
lamyiae - similar to unicum but harder to grow. I've killed 2.
tetragonum - I have a nice hybrid. comes in small & medium sized varieties.
uniflorum - I have it and it is a very nice mini.
bellatulum - I don't have it...yet...can be hard to grow.
cruentum - This one is easier than bellatulum.
tobaense - hard to find and hard to grow. spectacular bloom.
trigonopus - haven't found this one yet. Flowers can last 2-3 months.
brevicaule - hard to find and hard to grow.
cyanocentrum - I killed some seedlings but I know how to grow it now. Fabulous bloom.
delicatum var parvulum - I'm currently looking for this one.
masarangense - awesome bloom. I've killed a seedling. want to try again.
subacaule - awesome bloom. I haven't found it yet.
canaliculatum - awesome plant. I have a division. It looks bigger in pictures but it is actually a mini.
carronii - same family as canaliculatum. I don't have this one yet.

You will be assimilated...resistance is futile! LOL. Welcome to my world.

The same thing happened to me earlier this year. My mother gave me two Dendrobium NOIDs that were keikis that she grew for a year or so. They grew beautifully and this winter both bloomed. She gave me some again so I gave one of the older ones to a friend and that one sent out shoots and bloomed again last week. (I should have kept that one.) I think they are nobile hybrids as the cane that grew in the previous year went deciduous and it flowered off the bare cane. I think it will bloom off all the older leafless canes, I guess I will find out next winter.

As I had done nothing special with these plants and even kind of ignored them (watering of course) I began to think that perhaps I should move away from my favorite Cattelya types (as I wasn't having great success - killed many and decided to just stay with the ones that I have been able to get to bloom again and not get any more) to Dendrobiums.

Since January I have added to my collection: Dendrobium victoriae, lamyaiae, kingianum, macrophyllum, atroviolaceum, Dendrobium x superbiens, speciosum ssp. pedunculatum, loddigesii, chrysanthum, lasianthera, and Den. Tracy Zdilla. I have a Den. chrysotoxum and an aemulum on the way. Does this make me crazy?

By the way, does your terrarium have good air circulation? I had a little window sill 'glass house' several years ago and killed the orchids I had in it. I thought it would be great for humidity, but they rotted. There were little vents but no fan.

Wow, thats a good collection! yes, my terrariums have good ventilation. I built in a screen opening for them, but the air is still as long as the fan is off, so humidity hangs out in the tanks most of the day. Then the fans come on and dry things a bit.
