Default Dendrobium jenkinsii or aggregatum?

I bought this plant from orchidweb.com. It came as Dendrobium jenkinsii but from some pictures I saw on the net, jenkinsii seems a bit smaller. I would just like to verify from somebody who has more experience that this is indeed a jenkinsii.

The plant has been left outside to the elements between last november and now. Night time temps down to upper 40s and I had not watered it apart from some rain from the very dry winter we had.

I am hoping that the second pic is showing the beginning of a flower spike?

Any thoughts?

Thanks!
Andrew

Dendrobium jenkinsii or aggregatum? Male
Default

is a jenkinsii, the aggregatum has pseudobulbs much longer about 10 cm in height, while the jenkinsii does not exceed 2 or 3 cm.

What is now considered two species, lindleyi and jenkinsii, were once both considered aggregatum, which is a defunct name at this time. Aside from the difference in size lindleyi has something of a clustered upright growth habit whereas pseudobulbs of jenkinsii tend to grow flat and creeping across the substrate. It looks to me like you may have the primary hybrid of the two, known as Den. Ueang Pheung, which since they were once varieties of the same species were often crossed and still sold as 'aggregatum'... I have one that I think is the hybrid, it's got the lindleyi growth habit (like yours) but is about half the size (though still much bigger than my two jenkinsii). If it's not too dark and stormy when I get home this evening I'll try to snap some photos to illustrate the differences in growth habit.
