1) Are you sure you're prepared to try a fairly cool-growing plant in Houston?

2) If the issue with USPS is local delivery, why not request that it be held at the PO, and you can go pick it up?

thats all i grow Ray is cool growing orchids for the most part. A few catts and dendrobes here and there. But most of what I have is cooler side of intermediate to flat out cool growing plants.

The problems Ive had with USPS is the fact that their 3 -4 day delivery historically has taken 9-11 days. I get dried up dead crap left on the porch. So picking up dried and dead doesn't cure that problem.

Is there a particular reason you don't want it from Mountain Orchids or is it just about the shipping? I've only bought from there once but the plants were nice quality. Have you asked Darrin if he'll ship with your carrier of choice?

right...that is a beautiful scarlet flower ... (the post office here in Manhattan has an overnight; I suppose Houston have that too; and Ray is right you pick it up rather than letting them leave it on your door)A Seattle Ebay seller and Orchids.com has it....I remember Ron Hanko has a large specimen; but that was a posting long ago, he might be able to sell you a division

Darren at Mountain Orchids is the one who made the cross and to the best of my knowledge the only one who has it. I'm not ready to divide any of my plants, but if you want to wait, eventually I'll have a division.
