I visited the NY Botanical Garden for their annual Orchid Show last saturday. awesome as usual.
but the first place I stopped by was thier store, not the actual show, which I visited after my shopping.
Now that I am moving into a new apartment with south facing window, I was hoping to see some nice cattleyas at the store. There were quite a few, but none I was interested in.
Then there were lots of oncidium intergenerics, miltoniopsis, paphiopedilums, dendrobiums (mostly nobile hybrids and the other common types) and others.
I wanted to buy so many of them, but ended up with three dendrobiums and two oncidium hybrids.
They all look so beautiful. Two of them are totally new to me. The white den named Airy Crystal and the small oncidium hybrid called Sunny NN.
Good thing about getting orchids at this store was everyone had name tag on. Not so good part was the price being too high.
From the left to right in the first picture, Den. Oriental Smile "Butterfly", Den Yellow Song "Canary" (I already have one but can't get enough of that glowing yellow bouquet), Den.Air Crystal, Odcdm "Sunny NN" and Onc. Rosy Sunset "Pacific Satin".
All have nice fragrance (especially Rosy Sunset fills up the entire room in the moring!) but the white den. but it has amazing color mix. The picture doesn't show much, but it has pink edge on the petals and the center of the lip is light yellow. Fantastic!
The first picture shows my new babies and the rest are from the garden store and the greenhouse.
almost bought that exotic one in the last picture. maybe on my next visit.
Enjoy!~
