Hi I am new to this board, [I am a newbie still] and just wanted to say i bought a dendrobium golden aya about 7 yrs ago at an orchid show in NYC and this year for the 1st time it finally bloomed. At first I made the mistake of overfertilizing (hence baby plants) overwatering, and not realizing it needed a winter rest but this year I repotted in orchid bark media, had it in an airy pot, and by sheer coincidence it was in a cool window with temps in 50's facing north and i did not fertilize for months and stopped watering for few weeks, then....voila! beautiful fragrant yellow blooms! I was so excited i joined the orchid board (i've been reading posts for past few weeks since blooms started to see when to start water and fertilizing again) to share pics (need more posts before allowed to do this) and to let other newbies know DO NOT GIVE UP!!! I thought I would never get blooms again but kept it because i loved it anyway, as long as plant is green you still have a chance to figure out what it needs to be happy and reward you!
