Dendrobium Golden Aya
Dendrobium Golden Aya
(Den. aphrodite x Den. capillipes)
Hybridized by Nagasaka; Year of Registration: 1985
Permeatingly fragrant, temperature tolerant, Dendrobium primary hybrid. Graceful sprays of long lasting 2.5" flowers(6 to 7 weeks). The canes of this Dendrobium look similar to the nobile-type, but the flowers are on longer racemes. I did not have to dry it out quite as much as the nobile-type, I give it a bit of dry in the winter months. The flowers have a heady sour citrusy and pine smell that is noticeable early in the morning all across the room. Compact growth habit with multi-spikes per cane.
LightRequirement: Strong 2000+ F.C. on bright shaded sun southfacing baywindow.
I water it every other day while in bloom until it grows keikis and leaves...in the summer it is watered once a week, since it is very hot and humid in my area...on December 15th this doesnt get watered or fertilizer until I see buds growing out of it....then I begin the watering regimen and the fertilizer once again.
